About the Slovenian Hospice Association
Who we are
The Slovenian Hospice Association is a humanitarian association.
Our mission is to care for dying patients and their families, and to support grieving adults, children and young people.
The association was registered on 6 June 1995, in Ljubljana.
We work through 12 regional committees across Slovenia.
Our programmes are carried out by trained professional staff and trained volunteers, and support for the people we help is free of charge.
Around 30 percent of our funds each year come from donations and our own income.
In Slovenia, this kind of support is organised as an association working through regional committees, not as a stand-alone hospice building.
Who we support
We support seriously ill and dying people and their families wherever they are: at home, in hospital, or in a care home for older people.
We support grieving adults, children and young people after the death of someone close to them.
We also offer training and education for health, social care and education professionals.
Our online course on the basics of palliative care follows the guidelines of the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC), and participants receive a certificate of attendance.
